The NSCN (IM) has strongly condemned the killing and alleged mutilation of victims by what it described as Kuki terrorist gangs and their frontal village volunteer groups, terming the acts as crimes against humanity and a gross violation of human dignity.

In a statement issued by its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the NSCN/GPRN said the deliberate desecration of human bodies serves only to spread fear, terrorise communities and inflict psychological trauma on bereaved families. It asserted that even during conflicts, universally accepted moral principles require respect for the dead.

The organization urged the Government of India to immediately outlaw the groups allegedly involved and formally designate them as terrorist organizations. It argued that the deliberate targeting of civilians, use of extreme violence and alleged mutilation of bodies constitute acts of terrorism by any accepted international standard.

According to the NSCN (IM), organizations responsible for such acts should not be accorded any political legitimacy. It warned that failure to take decisive action against the groups would encourage further violence and undermine prospects for justice and peace.

The statement also criticised the role of Indian security forces, alleging a disparity in their response to Naga protests and security concerns. The NSCN (IM) claimed that while Naga women protesters and student activists have faced forceful action from security personnel, adequate measures were not taken to prevent attacks allegedly carried out by Kuki armed groups.

Questioning the government’s commitment to justice and protection of citizens, the organisation said such actions were difficult to reconcile with constitutional principles of equality and security.

Expressing condolences to the families of the victims, the NSCN/GPRN said it stood in solidarity with those affected by the incident and pledged to continue pursuing justice for the victims.
