Phek Police arrested a driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that left two women pedestrians injured, including a pregnant woman, at Bible Hill Colony in Phek on Saturday evening.
According to police, information regarding the incident was received at Phek Police Station at around 6:30 p.m. on June 13. It was reported that a vehicle had struck two women pedestrians and the driver had fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Acting on the information, a special police team was dispatched to the location. Preliminary inquiry revealed that both women sustained injuries and were admitted to the District Civil Hospital, Phek, for treatment. One of the injured women was reported to be pregnant.
Police investigations revealed that a blue Maruti Celerio bearing registration number WD 20A G3894 had approached from the wrong side of the road and hit the two pedestrians at Bible Hill Colony. After the collision, the driver allegedly abandoned the vehicle near a garage at Zion Colony and absconded from the area.

The abandoned vehicle was subsequently seized by Phek Police. Following a search operation, the absconding driver was apprehended by a special operations team of Phek Police in coordination with the Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU).
A case has been registered at Phek Police Station under Case No. 0002/2026 under Sections 281 and 117(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is underway.
According to the latest medical report, the condition of both victims is stable.
Meanwhile, Phek Police reminded the public that rash and negligent driving resulting in injury to another person is a punishable offence under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police also stated that driving under the influence of alcohol beyond the permissible limit constitutes an offence under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
