A new manufacturing unit producing paver blocks and tiles has been inaugurated at Tzusapang Sector under Mokokchung Village, with the initiative aimed at meeting local construction needs through locally manufactured materials.
The Lunsep Paver Block & Tiles Factory was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Mokokchung, Atsungba Walling, on June 13. The factory is operated by two brothers, Maongtemsu Imchen and Imlijong Imchen.
The entrepreneurs stated that construction materials used across Nagaland have largely depended on supplies transported from outside the state. They said this dependence has often resulted in increased transportation costs, delays in supply and uncertainty during construction works.
With the availability of raw materials within the region, the brothers decided to establish the unit to produce construction materials locally and contribute towards reducing dependence on outside suppliers.
Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, ADC Atsungba Walling said a successful business requires innovative ideas, trust and proper planning. He highlighted that factors such as location, transportation facilities, communication, availability of raw materials, market access and networking play an important role in the growth of a manufacturing unit.

Walling appreciated the entrepreneurs for selecting a suitable location and starting a venture based on locally available resources. He encouraged young people to take up entrepreneurship and work towards self-reliance.
He also advised the entrepreneurs to remain patient, stating that every business faces challenges during its journey. He stressed the importance of maintaining quality and building trust with customers.
“Customers are the kings,” Walling said, while advising the factory operators not to compromise quality by using inferior materials for higher profits.
He further called upon the community and family members to support the venture so that it can expand into a larger manufacturing unit.
Mokokchung Village Council Chairman Mapuyanger Longkumer also appreciated the initiative, stating that converting locally available raw materials into finished products is a positive step instead of depending on materials brought from outside the state.
The proprietors said their plans extend beyond paver blocks and tiles and that they aim to introduce more concrete-based products in the future to meet infrastructure requirements in Nagaland and the Northeast region.
They stated that the objective is to supply durable locally manufactured construction materials that can support the development of roads, public spaces and other infrastructure projects.
