A private school van carrying students of Eden Academy, Mokokchung and a passenger bus of Blue Hill Travels were involved in a road accident on NH-702D at Yimyu Ward area, near Indian Oil, Mokokchung, on Friday evening around 4 p.m.
The accident occurred at a turning stretch of the NH-702D road. The school van was reportedly on its way to drop students after classes towards Yimyu, Khensa while the Blue Hill bus was travelling towards Mokokchung town after departing from the ISBT located at Khensa and was heading towards the Amguri Road side for its night journey.

According to the local ground report, around 7 to 8 students were inside the school van at the time of the accident. The impact caused damage to both vehicles, with the van’s front and side portions severely affected, including damage to the driver’s side door and window area. The bus also sustained damage to its side portion following the collision.
The driver of the van sustained a minor injury on one of his knees. No major injuries among the students were reported.
The cause of the accident is not known at the time of filing this report. Further details are awaited.
