The prize distribution for the State Level Exhibition-cum-Competition of flowers, fruits, vegetables and spices was held today at Hortiscape Kisama.
The winners of the state level competition had been announced on 1 December.
Horticulture Director Y Bongti Konyak, in his speech, said the participants of the competition had made the Department attractive and appreciated their participation. He called upon them to participate not only at the state level but also at the national level and further urged the winners to become entrepreneurs so as to encourage and motivate other farmers and the youth of the state.
The panel of judges for the exhibition were Joint Directors of Agriculture, S Yongchung Phom and Khriesezolie Kire, and Deputy Director Agriculture Rose Mary Ezung. The other judges were Prof C S Maiti – Fruit Science, Dr Sentirela Jamir – Vegetable Science, Dr Graceli I Yepthomi – Spices, and Dr Rokolhou Keditsu – Flower.
A total of 101 participants took part in the flower competition category while 293 participants took part in the fruits, vegetables and spices category. The winners received cash prizes along with certificates.
