Planning & Transformation Department bids farewell to two retiring officers

The Planning & Transformation Department organised a farewell programme at Hotel Japfü on June 30 to honour the retirement of Additional Development Commissioner, Vilhouhunuo Sachu and Joint Development Commissioner, N Likao Kikon, recognising their decades of dedicated service to the department and the State.

Speaking on the occasion, incoming Joint Development Commissioner, Tesinle Kent acknowledged the exemplary service rendered by the two officers and highlighted their professional careers. She noted that Vilhouhunuo Sachu joined government service on June 6, 1995 and served in various capacities before being promoted as Additional Development Commissioner in September 2025. She retired on  June 30, 2026 upon attaining the age of 60 after more than three decades of service.

Kent also outlined the career of N Likao Kikon, who joined government service on January 12, 1994 as a Personal Assistant through the Nagaland Public Service Commission. During his service, he held several important postings across the State and rose through the ranks to become Joint Development Commissioner in March 2026. He also retired on June 30, 2026 on attaining the age of 60.

Secretary of the Planning & Transformation Department (Administrative Branch), P Nungsangwapang Jamir, paid tribute to the retiring officers, acknowledging their invaluable contributions, commitment and professionalism throughout their careers. He remarked that the foundation they had helped build over the past three decades had greatly benefited the department.

Describing them as assets not only to the department but also to the State, he particularly lauded Sachu for her discipline, dedication and exceptional managerial abilities. Wishing both officers a fulfilling retired life, he expressed hope that they would continue to inspire others through their experience and wisdom.

In his farewell address, N Likao Kikon expressed heartfelt gratitude to the officers, staff and every branch of the department for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout his years of service. He reflected on the friendships and experiences he had gained and encouraged the officers and staff to continue serving the department with sincerity and dedication.

The programme also featured voluntary speeches by officers and staff from various branches of the department, who shared their experiences and extended their best wishes to the retiring officers. Deputy Chief Minister, T. R. Zeliang, who was unable to attend the programme, conveyed his greetings through a letter, expressing appreciation for their dedicated service and contributions to the department.

The farewell programme was chaired by Deputy Development Commissioner, Heinswading, while Assistant Superintendent, Azamo Humtsoe delivered the invocation. Representatives of the NPMSA and district officers also spoke on the occasion, acknowledging the dedication and leadership of the retiring officers and Deputy Development Commissioner, B. Chingmei Phom gave the vote of thanks.
