NSDMA forecasts rain, thunderstorms across Nagaland till July 12; advises public to remain vigilant

The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by localized thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of the State from July 9 to July 12, 2026, and has advised citizens to remain vigilant and follow official weather advisories.

According to the weather bulletin issued by the NSDMA, varying intensities of rainfall and thunderstorm activity are expected across different districts during the four-day period, with moderate to heavy rainfall likely at isolated places in Kiphire and Tseminyu districts on July 12.

On July 9, localized thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall are expected over Kohima, Shamator, Mokokchung, Mon and Wokha districts.

Light rainfall is also likely at a few places in Longleng, Noklak, Phek, Tseminyu and Tuensang, while no significant weather activity is expected over the remaining districts.

For July 10, the NSDMA has predicted scattered intermittent light to moderate rainfall over Shamator and Tuensang districts.

Mon district is also likely to receive light to moderate rainfall, while isolated light showers may occur in Kohima, Longleng, Noklak, Tseminyu and Zunheboto.

On July 11, localized thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light rainfall are likely over Peren, Phek, Tseminyu, Wokha, Dimapur and Niuland districts.

Meanwhile, Kohima, Longleng, Mon and Tuensang are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall at a few places.

Weather activity is expected to intensify on July 12, with localized thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall likely over Kohima, Longleng, Meluri, Mokokchung, Mon, Phek, Shamator, Wokha and Zunheboto districts.

The NSDMA has also forecast moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places in Kiphire and Tseminyu districts.

In addition, Dimapur and Tuensang are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.

The NSDMA has advised citizens to remain alert during periods of adverse weather, particularly during thunderstorms and lightning activity, and to stay updated through official weather forecasts and advisories.
