The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, has ordered the immediate evacuation and emergency demolition of the District Transport Office (DTO) building at Post Office Ward after experts declared it structurally unsafe.

According to an official notification, a structural and technical inspection conducted on July 23 by an expert committee, in coordination with the DDMA and ward officials, found that the building had suffered severe structural damage due to incessant rainfall.

The committee concluded that the building had become highly unstable and was at risk of imminent collapse, posing a serious threat to human life and nearby public infrastructure.

In view of the findings, the Deputy Commissioner directed the District Transport Office to vacate the premises within 24 hours of the issuance of the notice. The building will be demolished on an emergency basis to prevent any loss of life and minimise the risk of a secondary disaster.

The Disaster Response Force under PWD (Housing) has been authorised to carry out the demolition in consultation with the District Transport Officer within the stipulated timeframe.

The administration has also prohibited the entry of the public and all unauthorised persons into the area during the demolition operation to ensure public safety.
