The Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, K Mhathung Tsanglao, NCS has submitted a comprehensive compliance report to the Commissioner of Nagaland on measures taken in response to the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Suo Moto Writ Petition (Civil) No. 9 of 2025 (Phalodi Accident) relating to safety and regulation along National Highways.

The report, submitted in response to the Commissioner’s communication dated June 25, 2026, outlines the district’s compliance with various safety directives.

According to the report, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the prohibition of unauthorised parking along National Highways was issued on July 22, 2026. The district administration stated that, as of now, no cases or complaints of unauthorised or persistently parked vehicles have been reported along National Highways in Wokha district. It added that more intensive and regular inspections are planned.

On the issue of encroachments, the report stated that no cases of encroachment or unauthorised occupation along National Highways have been reported or detected in the district.

Regarding land-use restrictions and the no-construction zone along National Highways, the district administration said it would ensure that no construction is permitted within the prescribed corridor without prior approval from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) or the concerned ministry.

The report further informed that the District Highway Safety Task Force has been constituted through a notification issued on July 22, 2026, to strengthen highway safety enforcement and coordination among departments.

As part of a special time-bound drive, the administration will soon convene a meeting with representatives of all line departments to undertake comprehensive identification and mapping of violations along National Highways in the district.
