The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Angh) has condemned what it described as a drone attack on Langkho village in the Eastern Konyak Region, alleging that the incident injured civilians, including a child.

In a statement issued through its MIP, the group alleged that the attack was carried out by the Indian Army in the early hours of October 3 and severely injured two civilians, including a nine-year-old girl. It described the incident as an attack on non-combatants and called for international scrutiny.

“Targeting defenceless civilians out of battlefield frustration and as instruments of retaliation exposes a complete moral bankruptcy and degradation of Indian military ethics which constitutes an undeniable crime against humanity and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law,” the statement said.

The NSCN/GPRN urged the United Nations and international monitoring organisations to condemn and act upon this “state-sponsored terrorism”. “The deliberate targeting of our civilian population will not be tolerated,” it said.

The group also warned individuals and Naga groups it accused of providing intelligence or logistical support to Indian agencies, saying they would be held accountable. It reiterated its stated commitment to protecting the Naga people, land and “freedom” and expressed solidarity with the affected families and Langkho community.

Separately, the Ganglei Area Students Union (GASU) expressed concern over a reported drone strike at Langkho Village in Lahe Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, Sagaing Region, Myanmar.

According to information received by GASU, the incident reportedly occurred at around 12:04 a.m. on October 2 at the residence of Col. Akham Konyak of NSCN-K (YA), near the village football ground. The Union said women and children were reportedly present in the residence while the head of the family was away.

GASU said the incident reportedly injured a 12-year-old girl, identified as Shongmah, daughter of Col. Akham Konyak, and alleged that the residence and belongings were destroyed.

The Union stressed that the reported injury to a minor and destruction of the residence warranted serious concern and called for an impartial and independent investigation to establish the facts and circumstances of the incident.

It also appealed to all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint and take all possible measures to protect civilians, particularly women and children.

GASU said it was prepared to cooperate with any impartial investigation within its capacity and provide relevant information when required, while expressing hope for the speedy recovery of the injured child.
