Will transform dreams into reality if elected again: TR Zeliang to voters

Peren Town: Zeliang said that only the BJP-NDPP alliance will benefit the Nagas and bring development to the state

TR Zeliang, NDPP candidate from 7th Peren A/C, on Monday told people in his constituency that if he is elected once again as their leader, he will transform dreams into reality.

At his Campaign Kick-off programme at Government Higher Secondary School ground Jalukie, Peren Town, Zeliang stated that dreams and visions cannot be fulfilled if one is not in the ruling government, referring to being in the opposition despite of winning the seat in the 2018 Nagaland Assembly election.

Zeliang said that he was privileged to have the people’s support and urged them to vote for him like they always do so that together they will make up for the lost 5 years.

The former chief minister mentioned the Tourist Complex in New Peren headquarter, which he claimed was one of the best in Nagaland constructed by the Tourism Department. He said morung of the different tribes of Nagaland have been built within the complex along with a cottage, an auditorium, and a helipad.

Zeliang urged the people to make proper calculations and choose the right leader who will provide a stable government which will make such developments possible.

Only the BJP-NDPP alliance will benefit the Nagas, he added.

Earlier, the programme began with invocation by Lhusing Liegise, Assistant Pastor of Jalukie Town Baptist Church. The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party flag was hoisted by Charles Sekhose, NDPP Central Executive Board (CEB).

Sekhose, in his short speech stated that the BJP-NDPP alliance government will lead Nagaland from 2023-2028 under the abled and matured leadership of CM Neiphiu Rio, who possesses the ability to lead under crisis, Chingwang Konyak, president of NDPP and T.R, Zeliang, among others.

Iherie Ndang, former NDPP candidate who formed alliance with T.R. Zeliang for the 2023 election, talked about how he and Zeliang had been opponents in the past and remarked at how much time and years had been wasted. He said that initially he struggled to make the decision but ultimately, he decided to support Zeliang and help him go forward and lead the people.

In his speech, Ndang also talked about how a new district should be carved out of Peren.

Francis Ngajokpa, an ex-MLA from Manipur, said in his speech that wherever T.R. Zeliang goes he will follow. Francis mentioned that he knew how hard the former chief minister had worked for the Maram-Peren road construction and requested the public to vote for TR Zeliang as the people will not get another leader like that again, he said.

He also advised that one should not get over confident before the counting of the votes rather to be very careful on the day of voting, be stationed in one’s own polling stations and ensure that nothing is missed out.

The theme song of TR Zeliang’s campaign for the 14th Nagaland Assembly election was also released at the programme. The song ‘Higher and better together’ is composed and sung by artists Matu, Kenlumyile, Widinkamlak and team.

The Campaign Kick-off programme concluded with benediction from Father Francis Cheerangal, Principal, St Xavier College, Jalukie.
