Kohima: Oking Hospital informed that eight patients from Manipur have been admitted with three of them in the ICU

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, in his personal capacity, visited patients from the violence struck Manipur, admitted here in Oking Hospital, Kohima.

Altogether eight persons, all male aged between 19-35 hailing from Kangpokpi district in the neighbouring State have been admitted in the private hospital.

During his visit on Saturday, Deputy Chief Minister interacted with the patients and their family members and assisted them with financial aid.

Dr Joel Ngully, senior consultant surgeon at Oking Hospital informed that eight patients have been admitted with three of them in the ICU, he said their conditions were initially very critical when they were admitted but that they are now stable and doing well and kept under observation.

“Rest of the five patients are stable and kept in the ward. Four emergency operations were conducted when they were brought in. Last night we had one admission and this morning we had two admissions,” informed Dr Joel.

22 buses enroute Imphal to evacuate Nagas

Speaking to reporters after his visit, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton informed that the State government is on the job and taking special care for the evacuation of Nagas who are studying in Imphal as well as for Naga settlers of Manipur.

He said, 22 buses along with 2 Platoons consisting of one Mahila IR and one all male IR have been deployed for security and in addition, the state government have also requested the Assam Rifles to provide security. Informing this he said that so far, more than 600 individuals are to be evacuated and 22 buses will not be sufficient so the state govt will continue to send more buses.

They are expected to reach by tonight or tomorrow, he said.

On reports of some buses stranded at Senapati, Patton informed that he had a telephonic discussion with Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and that the latter had assured that they will protect the Naga Students and Naga settlers in Manipur. Patton also requested him to allow the buses to reach Imphal and it has been relayed that the buses stranded at Senapati are now enroute to Imphal.

Further, Patton said the Manipur incident is really unfortunate and wished all the injured a speedy recovery. He also appealed to the Manipur Government to settle this issue once and for all.
