Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has set up a round the clock Control Room in view of the onset of Monsoon. The Control Room will be functional throughout the Monsoon season, the ministry has informed.

The Ministry said that Control Room has been set up to monitor the problems arising from heavy rains impacting the operation of National Highways in the country, viz., disruption of traffic, accidents due to poor visibility and potholes, water logging, road obstruction and landslides etc.
The dedicated teams deployed for Control Room duties will coordinate with the concerned Regional Officers of MoRTH, NHAI and NHIDCL towards faster resolution of the issues pertaining to blockage or damage to National Highways.

In Nagaland, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa informed on Wednesday that vehicular movement along NH- 702B, Senyung Nullha along Tuensang-Longleng Road has been restricted until further notice due to partial wash off of the road in the aftermath of heavy rain.
However, the movement of Light Motor Vehicles (LMV) is allowed to ply with utmost caution while passing through the affected area, stated a press release from DIPR.
The Changtongya to Longleng road on NH 702 also remains disrupted by landslide. NHIDCL team has been working since the last two weeks as this incident is the third landslide that has taken place. However, due to the scale and complexity of the landslide at different locations, it is expected to take some days, if not weeks, to fully restore access to the affected road.
