With the aim to revive culture which is passed down from forefathers to the children of present generation, the Government High School, Peshu in Noklak district conducted Cultural Day for the first time under the theme “Culture, Widening of the Mind” on Wednesday at GHS Peshu School Campus.

Speaking at the event, Pupou S Meyo, President, Peshu Students’ Union stressed on the importance of culture stating that it is the reflection of community. He asserted that it is because of the existence of culture that the sense of identity is determined. “Culture offers unique identity”, Meyo stated, adding that the culture to be practiced as taught by the forefathers while co-existing with the modern ways of life.
The PSU president also urged the students to adopt hard labour and stay away from abusive substances.
M Choale, President, Peshu Meen Hoikam, stressed on equality between between man and woman in her brief address. She also called on all the students to adopt high respect towards the opposite gender.
During the Culture Day event, GHS Peshu students and faculty along with guests witnessed a series of cultural display such as folk songs, dances, ancestral knowledge sharing session with their utmost zeal.
Competitions of indigenous sports and games including traditional Yodelling, Top Spinning and Vae Kou Dae (Playing Monkey ladder beans with legs in various ways) were also held.
