Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse today graced the Golden Jubilee celebration of Khezhakeno Welfare Society Kohima as the special guest at NBCC Convention Centre, Kohima on October 14, informed a DIPR report.
Speaking at the celebration, Kruse extended her greetings and congratulated the Khezhakeno Welfare Society Kohima on reaching 50 years of existence. Stating that Khezhakeno Village is a well-known village among the Nagas with many tribes believed to have migrated from the village, Kruse expressed her happiness that the village and its people are prospering in all fields of life and are one of the most blessed communities.
Highlighting the potential in farming, Kruse called upon the gathering to scale up production to meet the demand in the market. The need to use scientific methods and machinery while farming was also stressed for which Kruse assured support from the Government.
The Minister further urged the gathering to unite and work together for the upliftment of the society.
MLA, Dr. Neisatuo Mero, in his speech, congratulated the Khezhakeno Welfare Society Kohima on reaching the milestone and also appreciated the pioneers of the welfare society. Asserting that the present generation was reaping what the forefathers have sown, Dr. Mero called upon the gathering to follow the footprints of their ancestors in the modern world with examples such as oneness and togetherness.
Mero urged the youth to give their best to the society, calling on the gathering to work together to take the community forward. He also requested the government employees, wherever they are posted, to work sincerely for the government and the people.

Dharmendra Prakash, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Nagaland, also gave a short speech on the occasion where he shared his own experiences with Khezhakeno village. He asked the community to continue conserving the forest and its resources and called on the people to continue the old-age practices of respecting the elders, community participation, etc.
Delivering greetings, Helievio Solo, Chairman of Kohima Village Council, stated that the jubilee celebration was a test of strength of brotherhood and stressed the need for harmonious co-existence.
Kevekha Kevin Zehol, NCS, who chaired the programme, highlighted the history of the village and the Khezhakeno Welfare Society Kohima. Kevechűpe Pfűno, President, Khezhakeno Welfare Society Kohima delivered the welcome address.
