Mangmetong Students’ Union Mokokchung celebrated its Platinum Jubilee (1948-2023) under the theme “Tsüngchi Shisaluyimer” on 24th October 2023 at Town Hall, Mokokchung with Imkong L. Imchen, MLA and Advisor, Information & Public Relations, Soil and Water Conservation Government of Nagaland, as the Guest of Honour, and Imnazulu, Associate Pastor of Kohima Ao Baptist Church, as the main speaker.
Guest of Honour Imkong L Imchen emphasized the importance of the Mangmetong Students’ Union, stating, “For Mangmetong Villagers, Mangmetong Students’ Union Mokokchung is the only functional organization till date.” He acknowledged the historical significance of the village, mentioning, “Many Nokinketer ‘Warriors’ were born from the village because of which we are all here today.”

Imkong L Imchen paid tribute to the forefathers who settled and formed the village, highlighting the importance of agriculture and water resources for their livelihood. He urged students to prioritize education and return to the basics of literature. “Do not stay underestimated by others,” he said, while emphasizing the need for courage, truthfulness, hard work, and a big heart in facing the competitive world.
Guest of Honour also released the Platinum Jubilee Souvenir during the event.
Main speaker Imnazulu, in line with the theme “Tsüngchi,” focused on the idea of authenticity, or “Chichiba” and encouraged individuals to bring Christ into their lives, highlighting the importance of self-reliance in a world with plenty of opportunities.

The Associate Pastor of Kohima Ao Baptist Church stressed the need for a critical and clinical approach to problem-solving and emphasized the importance of authenticity and integrity in society. He underlined the significance of not only speaking the truth but also actively working towards it and also stressed the importance of critical thinking, vision, co-orientation, and thorough execution in bringing about positive change in the world.
Imnazulu concluded by discussing the Nagas’ belief that an individual’s status is determined by their work and service and encouraged all to approach their work with a service perspective, adding that prayer, reading the Bible, self-discipline, and being smart are essential for success, stating, “Without God, nothing is impossible.”

Dembo Longchar, President of MSUM, welcomed all well-wishers and emphasized that the Jubilee is a time for forgiveness, showing love, and developing a good relationship with God in his welcome address.
Jubilee Greetings were delivered by the President of Mangmetong Senso Telongjem Mokokchung, the President of Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang, and the President of Mangmetong Kaketshir Telongjem.
Certificates were distributed to the student leaders of Mangmetong by Moanungsang Jamir. Y. Imtiyongdang Imchen, Former President of MSUM, reminisced about the earlier days of MSUM.
The Jubilee opening ceremony was graced by the Mangmetong Students’ Union Mokokchung. Moatoshi Jamir, Counselor of MTBA, delivered the invocation.
