“No matter what situation or problem comes, everything cannot be curated to myself or to yourself alone but we the Naga people has omitted the word Perseverance out of the dictionary of our life and how do we go forward if we do not have the quality to persevere during such time as today,” stated Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Higher Education and Tourism while addressing the inaugural session of the 21st Biennial General Conference of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) on October 25.
The ANCSU Biennial Conference is currently underway at Mount Tiyi College, Wokha. Minister Along, graced the session on the second day of the Conference as the Inaugural Guest.
Stressing on the theme ‘Perseverance’ of the General Conference, Along asserted that the idea of perseverance is lost among Nagas. The greatest problem the Nagas faced today, said the Minister, is that we are not able to take in criticism, we are not ready to take in philosophical corrections.

“That’s the problem that has emerged in the institution, church bodies, Hoho’s, organizations (Both political and social), village councils and in every NGO’s Civil Societies,” said Along urging the young gathering to be a strength for our people and accept philosophical criticism.
Acknowledging the ANCSU’s work, the Minister mentioned the ANCSU are assertive in their perception to see the best things happen for the interest of the students of which they are chosen to lead. He also noted that the good governance initiatives towards the growth of human resource for the State, and the education of the best human resource has been curated with the efforts of institutions in Nagaland and the ANCSU.
While sharing his experience working together with ANCSU, Along mentioned, “Together we’ve have gone through with anything and everything but it is a journey that all of us have to make together as Nagas and leaders for tomorrow. There might be passing of ultimatum between us but that doesn’t mean we are enemies.”
He also remarked that Nagaland is one of the States that have the best human resource in terms of human literacy and pursuing excellence and urged the gathering to remind themselves of the social responsibility that each one have towards the people and one’s land.
