On November 18, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) in Mokokchung, under the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland, organized a one day awareness Programme on Ward Level Child Welfare and Protection Committee at the Penli Ward Community Hall.

Sendonglemba, Legal and Probation Officer of DCPU Mokokchung, delivered the keynote address focusing on child rights and protection during the event. Additionally, Asola Imsong, Programme Officer (Non-Institutional Care), provided insights into the different units of the District Child Protection Unit, explaining their working structures and functions.

The  program was aimed to raise awareness about the functions of the Ward Level Child Welfare and Protection Committee, drawing the participation of representatives from various wards in Mokokchung. Notable attendees included representatives from the District Child Protection Unit, Child Helpline, Juvenile Justice Board, and Child Welfare Committee.

The awareness initiative coincided with the celebration of Child Rights Week and is set to culminate on November 20.
