A day after two cadres from Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) and one cadre from NSCN-IM were killed in a gunfight in Manipur’s Noney district, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has called condemned the incident and called for peace and unity.

The Federation mentioned in its press release that the clash that took place in the forest area near Lamdangmei village on 18th December 2023 was the second clash within a fortnight between ZUF and NSCN-IM.  Expressing concerns, NSF stated that the incident “has once again escalated fears and created a sense of insecurity among the innocent public” and threatens the hard-earned “peace and stability” in the Naga homeland.

“The path forward involves not only political discussions but also building bridges of trust and understanding among all stakeholders,” NSF stated, pressing all factions for a “collective effort.”
