The grand Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Jangpetkong Kaketshir Telungjem Mungdang (JKTM) was formally opened by MLA & Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba, at Alongkima on Monday, December 18, in the presence of a host of dignitaries from the student community and others.

The jubilee, celebrated under the theme ‘Mita Yanglushidi’ (roughly translated as transforming vigilantly), was attended by delegates from all villages and sub-units of the JKTM.

Speaking based on the jubilee’s theme, MLA & Advisor Temjenmenba pointed out that transforming society depends largely on each individual in the community. He challenged all, especially the student community, to become a better version of themselves to bring about transformation in society.

Regarding the economic scenario, Temjenmenba mentioned that the world is changing rapidly with artificial intelligence revolutionizing society. He wondered whether minerals like petroleum could be substituted by alternative energy sources in the near future and urged students to ponder upon that aspect. Nevertheless, he asserted that natural resources will have to be exploited for economic growth.

He cautioned that economic growth may bring more people from outside, leading to a change in culture through intermarriages. He urged students to be prepared for such a scenario and emphasized preserving rich Naga values, language, cultures, and faith in God.

“Transforming our society depends on you and me, so let us not forget the values of our forebears and not forget our God,” the MLA & Advisor told the students.

DIGP (Training) Imnalensa IPS, in his speech, addressed the unemployment problem in the state, highlighting the reported 72,000 registered educated unemployed youths in Nagaland. He emphasized the importance of pursuing jobs in the private sector, calling for skill-upgradation and hard work among the youth.

He also called for a change in mindset and informed decision-making, stating that one cannot reach their goal without faith in God and consistent hard work. Meanwhile, MLA & Advisor for Tribal Affairs & Sericulture, Imkongmar, who accompanied Advisor Temjenmenba, also spoke at the program.
