Okhen Motsü-2, a collection of stories behind well known hymns authored by Mhonyamo Yanthan was dedicated and released as held at Fernbrook School, Wokha, on February 3. The book highlights the introduction of a collection of 100 stories revealing the origins of well-known hymns in the Lotha Churches hymn book.
The book aims to provide intriguing insights into the background of these hymns, highlighting the importance of understanding their stories for a more meaningful music experience.
The book was dedicated and released by Mhao Kikon, Pastor Tsungiki Baptist Church who in his speech, stressed on the importance of learning the story of the hymns in the Lotha hymnals. He maintained that this was the need of the hour and wished that people will get a copy and read through and so receive the blessings of God.
The book “Okhen Motsü-2” provides intriguing insights into the background of well-known Church Hymnals.
Addressing the gathering, the author Mhonyamo Yanthan stated the book aims to retell the stories of how the hymns were written and how it speaks to us today. “Many a times, we sing the hymns without knowing the actual context in which the hymns were inspired and written and thus our singing becomes shallow and less significance,” viewed Yanthan.

The author also shared that the book is a result of him associating with Church choirs where he discovered that the singing could have improved if only the singers understood the story behind the writing of the hymns.
With this launch of the book, the author expressed the hope that the readers will not just read and sing but will have an indepth understanding of the hymns as they sing. This book is anticipated to be valuable for personal devotions, Church and lay leaders as well.
