KMC puts restrictions on pig handling in locations where African Swine Fever detected

Kohima: KMC urges concerned butchers, piglet dealers and wards to report any suspicious case of ASF to concerned department

The Kohima Municipal Council has notified of restrictions on the handling of pig and pork in locations under Kohima jurisdiction where African Swine Fever (ASF) has been detected as notified by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima on 16th April 2024.

The Administrator, KMC, on Thursday urged all the concerned butchers, piglet dealers and wards under Kohima jurisdiction to strictly adhere to the DC’s Order for these flagged areas. The DC had earlier ordered for:

  1. Ban on slaughter of pigs.
  2. Ban on import and export of pigs and piglets.
  3. Ban on transportation of pigs and pork.
  4. Lanusenla Longkumer, Administrator also urged the concerned butchers, piglet dealers and wards to report any suspicious case of ASF to the concerned department.
