The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) held a felicitation program for Naga Toppers in HSLC and HSSLC 2024 at the Capital Convention Centre Kohima on June 28.
46 HSLC toppers and 22 HSSLC toppers including 2 Naga HSSLC toppers from Manipur were felicitated during the program.
In his speech, Special Guest Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education and SCERT encouraged the students to achieve greater heights in future too. With 2024 marking the centennial year where Nagas were first introduced to education, Dr. Yhome rued that Nagas cannot be compared with other states but he expressed hope and assured to do what is best for the students.

“We may not have been able to reach where we are because of political issues or diversity challenges but we should appreciate diversity and work cohesively together. We must acknowledge our weakness and challenges and seek help wherever necessary,” said the Advisor.
He also stated that all parents are invested in education and it will continue because only education can set us free.
Drawing attention to Nagaland with the highest drop out rate, the Advisor expressed the need to tackle this issue and exuded hope that the students present will work hard and come back work for the people.
Sharing her success story, Tolino Chishi Rank 431 ,UPSC 2024 briefed that her actual UPSC CSE- focused preparation began only after she finished her bachelor’s degree. Chishi credited her sincerity in regular coursework starting from her school days, that helped make preparations easier for her.

“One thing that makes exams like these particularly challenging and tiring, is the long process because just one exam cycle taking up almost a whole year. There are always good and bad days, a while lot of monotony, and the need for much will power and determination,” said Chishi. She also advised the need to cautious and stay away from social media and eletronic gadgets. Distancing from social life, wise usage of technology, availing free study materials and keeping her faith in the Lord helped her.
“Be intentional about your plans and actions, always give in your best and believe in yourself. Knowledge is always so precious, even when it’s not the means to a particular end, and I hope each of you will find joy in curiosity and learning,” said Chishi.
During the felicitation, Mhachilo Yanthan spoke on behalf of the toppers.

In his Presidential address, Medovi Rhi, President NSF said, “Success is not a destination, it is a journey that requires continuous effort and a willingness to embrace change. It marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, filled with new opportunities and challenges. Embrace these challenges as opportunities to learn, to grow, and to become stronger because Each obstacle they overcome will shape them into a more capable and resilient individual. “
The program was blessed with an invocation by Asosü Pfokreni Dominic, and a Special prayer was pronounced by Khekavi K. Yeptho. Words of gratitude was shared by Kenilo Kent while a special number presented by Sentiein Kichu.
