Interacting with the Indian diaspora at Moscow today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that the whole world is amazed at the pace of development India has achieved in the last 10 years. He also said that the development that took place in the last decade was just a trailer and that the “coming 10 years are going to be of even faster growth!”
The Prime Minister arrived in Moscow on Monday on an Official Visit today. On arrival, he was received by Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation at the Vnukovo-II airport and accorded a ceremonial welcome. During his visit, PM Modi will co-chair the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit with President Vladimir Putin.
Addressing the Indian community, Modi thanked the Indian diaspora for the warm welcome and lauded its contribution in enhancing the India-Russia relationship.
He said that India’s transformative success has happened because of the dedication, commitment and contribution of 1.4 billion Indians, each one of whom today dreams of making India a developed country. India, he noted, through its committed efforts, from tackling climate change to meeting sustainable development goals, was making significant contribution to global prosperity – as a Vishwabandhu, a friend to the world. He further noted that India’s call for peace, dialogue and diplomacy to resolve global issues had high resonance.
At the event, the Prime Minister mentioned that a decision to open two new Indian Consulates in Kazan and Ekaterinburg has been taken which would give further boost to people-to-people ties.
Later, Prime Minister Modi paid tributes at the ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’ in Moscow by laying a wreath. The ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’ is a war memorial located at the Kremlin wall, Moscow and is dedicated to the Soviet soldiers who lost their lives during World War II, the Ministry of External Affairs informed in a press release.
