Union Home Minister to chair NEC meet in Guwahati, Assam

Union Home Minister Amit Shah who is on a three-day visit to Northeast has landed in Gangtok, Sikkim today to inaugurate the ‘Eastern and North-Eastern Zones Dairy Cooperative Conclave-2022. Thereafter, Shah will have a series of programs in Assam.

The Home Minister will chair the meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) on 8 September in Guwahati, Assam. The NEC is the nodal agency for economic and social development of the region.

As part of the meeting, Shah is scheduled to hold discussions with governors and chief ministers of the eight states on a range of issues.

As per reports, Shah will review the progress of various development projects at the NEC meeting, besides taking stock of the security situation in the region.

Governors, chief ministers, chief secretaries and police chiefs of all the north-eastern states have already gathered in Guwahati for three days.

The assembled political top brass, governors and the police and civil administration heads will adopt key policy decisions on various range of issues during the NEC meet.
