The Wokha District marked Teachers’ Day today with a special event held at the Lotha Hoho Ki, Wokha. Organised by the Education Department of Wokha, the programme was graced by Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar, IAS as the Guest of Honour.
During the ceremony, four educators were honoured with the District Teachers’ Award in recognition of their exceptional contributions. The awardees included Binod Pariyar from GHSS Bhandari, H. Lidemo Tungoe from GHSS Wokha, T. Rosanna Lotha from Mount Sinai School Wokha, and Benchumlo Humtsoe from GMS Tsungiki.

Deputy Commissioner Kumar addressed the gathering, praising teachers for their vital role in shaping students’ futures. He highlighted the prestigious nature of the teaching profession and encouraged educators to overcome challenges, impart essential life skills, and continually enhance their own skills in an increasingly skill-oriented world. Kumar also acknowledged
the growing influence of technology, such as Google, in providing widespread access to information, while cautioning students to discern between credible and unreliable sources.
ADC (Samagra), K Chandemo Patton, extended greetings on behalf of the District Education Office, underscoring the high respect and honour that teachers deserve for their lifelong guidance and support.
Senior SDEO Z Chanbemo Kikon spoke on the significance of Teachers’ Day as a tribute to educators and thanked them for their unwavering dedication and hard work.
The event, chaired by Advani C, included a special prayer for teachers by Pastor Tayong Lemtur of Wokha Town Hoho Baptist Arogo. Performances included a special song by GHSS Wokha, an ode to teachers by Mhonroni N. Kithan of Spring Dale School, and a special performance by the teachers of GMS Wokha Town Sector ‘A’. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Y. Daniel Lotha from the JEO Sr. SDEO Office.
