The Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan said today that education is the cornerstone of progress in a society, however, it is the inclusion of spiritual and moral values within that education which will truly shape the citizens of tomorrow.
The Governor was speaking at the Graduation ceremony of St. Joseph’s College Jakhama. In his speech, he commended the College for living up to its reputation by providing a nurturing environment conducive to higher education and learning and empowering students to excel academically, professionally, and personally.
The Governor also congratulated St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) for been accredited with Grade ‘A’ again by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) just few days back.
He said that college days are one of the most memorable days in one’s life and hoped that apart from their academic pursuits, the students have also made fond memories of their college days. The Governor further commended the students for their hard work in their respective disciplines and have been adjudged to be worthy of the degrees that are being awarded. But as they integrate themselves with the society as an intellectual, it should always be remembered in their heart to be an integral part of the nation-building process using the capabilities that they have acquired from this institution, he stated.
The Governor remarked that “We stand today at the threshold of a new era – what our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has aptly termed ‘Amrit Kaal’” and that the vision for a “Viksit Bharat” – a developed India by 2047 – is also within grasp. He said that to achieve this vison calls for dedication, innovation, and unity from every one of us especially the youth. Young educated people like you, with your boundless potential and fresh perspectives should be at the forefront of these movements”, the Governor added.
Further, La Ganesan said that as we celebrate the achievements, we must also look towards the future with a sense of responsibility and resolve. As torchbearers of this new India, the youth’s creativity, energy, and passion will drive us forward, he said and encouraged them to embrace the spirit of patriotism not just as love for the motherland, but as a commitment to contribute positively to our country.
The Governor said that patriotism is not confined to words but it is reflected in our daily actions, our respect for our fellow citizens, and our dedication to the principles of justice, equality, and freedom. Let us hold steadfast to these values and work towards a nation where harmony and prosperity reign supreme, he stated.
