The Deputy Commission of Chümoukedima, Polan John, NCS has informed that the National Highway 29 at the TSIEDUKHRU range (Pagla Pahar) stretch between Chathe Bridge (Parkai Jn.) and New Chümoukedima Village will be opened to all traffic from 6:00 AM of 24 September 2024.
“All movements of vehicles (one way traffic at a time) along the aforementioned route shall be regulated by the Traffic Police, Chümoukedima,” he stated.
The DC also informed that the Chumoukedima Town (Old Check Gate) to New Chumoukedima via Old Chumoukedima Village road will continue to remain closed for all form of traffic from 6:00 PM till 6:00 AM.
The DC took a review meeting with the officials in regard to the NH-29, removal of overhanging rocks, restoration of 2 lane works and travel advisory at DC office, Chümoukedima on 23rd September 2024.
The review meeting was attended by the ADC Medziphema; EAC, Seithekema; Police, Traffic; PWD NH; Chümoukedima and New Chümoukedima villages; Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO); Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO); GM-Dimapur PMU; NHIDCL; contractors.
They had a brain storming discussion on how to solve specific problems and take steps and actions on restoration.
Recently, the CPO and CYO expressed their dissatisfaction over the slow progress of the work and the quality of workmanship at the ongoing construction near Chathe Bridge.
