The Yopikyu Thongtsar Memorial Trust (YTMT) Coaching sponsorship held an Orientation Programme for the second batch 2024-25 on October 5, at 2K Hotel, Officers’ Hill, Kohima.

Theose Thongtsar, Chairman YTMT, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), while delivering the welcome note, said they are giving opportunity to enhance their capacity for various competitive exams where the outcome would depend on the aspirants sheer hand work, perseverance and determination to succeed.
He further challenged the students to give their best efforts as only the best among them will come out successfully in these cut throat competitive world. Thongtsar mentioned that YTMT sponsored 40 Students for the first batch and 53 (Technical 9 and General 44) Students for the second batch.
Delivering the keynote address, Selichum Thongtsar Trustee, Joint Secretary, Works and Housing Department highlighted that YTMT was established in memory of his late father lt. Yopikyu who studied at Mokokchung and was among the first educated from the Sangtam community. Lt. Yopikyu was said to have managed his studies by doing labor work at day and studies at night. In Kiphire, he served as a school teacher initially and became school inspector. Later, he joined politics in 1974, and was elected in 1977, 1982 and 1987 in the NLA. His vision was to uplift, contribute and dedicated his life for service for the welfare of the people. “So YTMT envisions to uphold his legacy. YTMT aspire to make opportunity and platform for students of Kiphire District espically for poor financial background who can’t pursue, afford to pay the fees but are enthusiastically committed achieve their dreams. Kiphire being backward and far from the rest with no proper connectivity, the Trust, therefore initiated coaching to set Students on equal footing with other communities in the state,” said Thongtsar. He urged the students to be determined, self reliant and committed to achieved their goal.
Er. Shadrak SDO PWD(H) Industries & Commerce, from Vega Coaching Institute gave a brief insight on the Institute which has a well Qualified faculty, with five SDO and one SA. He assured that Institute will guide, mentor and help the Aspirants achieve their dream, and thanked YTMT for trusting and collaborating with them.

Therlii Ovung, Proprietor Intensive Coaching and Computer Institute Kohima, stated that it is government registered institute, 2018 in technical, ISO certified and also provides Montessori course. The Institute has provide numerous successful candidates and will continue to give their best. Ovung urged students not to give up but study with an undying challenge with high effort, fear of God, honesty, dedication and consistency. Ovung reminded the selected students the hope of the Trust which lies in them. Atoka Z. Awomi, Human Resource Manager, PrepSchool for civil services stated that the Institute gives affordable fee structure and has accomplished great results. Awomi thanked YTMT and their generous support to the Aspirants and expressed optimism that the trust will continue to do the same in the future. He expressed gratitude for the visionary support of collaboration to make Kiphire and beyond a hope of bright society.
Sethrichumla Sangtam delivered a short speech on behalf of students, by thanking the trust for Sponsoring them, and congratulated the Aspirants for been selected. Fortunate to be part of the YTMT family, Sangtam motivated her fellow aspirants to work hard together with commitment, dedication and determination. She urged aspirants to fulfill the hope of the trust and bring laurels to YTMT as well as to Society. Rev. Thsadong, Pastor, Sangtam Baptist Lithro Kohima prayed for the students and Likhumse Thongtsar, Trustee, Section Officer Finance Department concluded with vote of thanks.
