28th Maritime Exercise MALABAR 2024 concludes

Visakhapatnam: Navies take part in exercises designed to enhance mutual understanding and coordination

The 28th Edition of Maritime Exercise Malabar 2024 hosted by India concluded on 18 October 24 at Visakhapatnam. The exercise that commenced on 8th October beginning with the Harbour Phase in Visakhapatnam, followed by the Sea Phase.

The event witnessed participation of Naval warships, embarked integral helicopters and long-range maritime patrol aircraft and submarine from Australia, India, Japan and USA in the Bay of Bengal.

The units took part in complex and advanced exercises in the domains of surface, sub-surface and air warfare designed to enhance mutual understanding and coordination, with the aim of operating seamlessly as a Combined Task Force at sea.

Major exercises included surface weapon firings, anti-air shoots, air defence exercises, anti-submarine warfare exercises, extensive operations of ship borne helicopters, seamanship evolutions including fueling from tankers and maritime interdiction operations.

The sea phase of Malabar 2024 culminated with a Closing Ceremony that included a review of operational aspects of the Sea Phase and enabled all participating navies to interact and exchange views by sharing experiences and best practices.
