Special National Integration Camp – Northeast Region 2024 begins at Assam Rifle Camp Wokha

The Special National Integration Camp(SNIC) for NCC cadets commenced in Wokha today  at 24 Assam Rifles Camp. The camp is being conducted by 1 Nagaland NCC Battallion under the Kohima NCC Group HQs under overall directions of NCC Directorate of North East Region(NER). The camp aims to bring together the NCC cadets from all over the country and provide a platform for meaningful interaction and National Integration. The camp has a strength of nearly 600 NCC Cadets and NCC staff from all states of the country.

Nagaland Governor, La Ganesan graced the inaugural event as the chief guest. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Governor La. Ganesan  expressed immense pleasure in attending the Special National Integration Camp organized by the NCC North East Region, welcoming 560 cadets and staff from 17 NCC Directorates across India to Nagaland. “The very essence of this camp’s is in defining, “Unity in Diversity,”, highlighted by the Governor, underscoring the importance of unity despite differences in language, culture, and traditions.

He encouraged the young cadets to embody discipline, leadership, and a commitment towards national service, which is crucial for future peace, prosperity, and mutual respect. Emphasis was placed on the opportunity for cadets to engage with peers from the North East, experience local customs, cuisine, and culture, and build understanding and tolerance—key values for an inclusive society.

The Governor further described the camp as a transformative platform for interaction, allowing cadets to forge lifelong bonds and appreciate the country’s diverse cultural expressions. He lauded the organizers, NCC staff, and cadets in fostering integration and cultural empathy through this camp.

Further he expresses optimism about the positive impact of the cadets on the nation’s unity and thanked them for their dedication and wishing them a successful and enriching camp experienced

Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor, Government of Nagaland, MLA and Chairman of the District Planning Board  of Wokha and Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe were also present as Special Guests of Honour for the inauguration ceremony of the camp.

The local Lotha Eloe Hoho Thungbeni Ngullie, Chairman Lotha Hoho Mhondamo Ovung, Achumbemo Kikon MLA & Chairman Sub Divisional Planning and Development Board, Lironthung E Kithan, President Lotha Students Union, Vandan Erui Chairman Wokha District Council Chairman Association were also special invitees for the event.

The Deputy Commissioner of Wokha  Vineet Kumar IAS and Superintendent of Police Rhovysie Nyui were the Chief Special Invitees and spearheaded the preparations for the Governor’s visit.

Brig Antony Grossy Deputy Director General from NER NCC Directorate received the Governor at the Wokha Camp site, along with Brig S P Mainkar Group Commander Kohima Group NCC and Brig Shiva Kant Shukla Commander of 6 Sector Assam Rifles. The team of NCC Cadets presented a Guard of Honour to the Governor as a mark of respect

To commemorate the event the Governor also presented a Silver Salver for the conducting unit.

The event concluded with a powerful rendition of the NCC song by NCC Cadets of Nagaland followed by the singing of National Anthem by everyone.
