Wokha Village Students’ Union releases 75th platinum jubilee souvenir

The Wokha Village Students’ Union (WVSU) held its 75th Platinum Jubilee Souvenir Release Programme at the Wokha Village Community Hall, on February 14, with MLA and Chairman of the Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, as the special guest.

Addressing the gathering, Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe described the day as a historic moment and reflected on the jubilee celebrations, recalling the past when resources were scarce. He expressed gratitude to God for bringing the village and its people this far. He urged everyone to remember and honor the lost souls who contributed to the growth of the union. Humtsoe highlighted the significance of the Jubilee Souvenir, emphasizing its role in preserving memories and offering an opportunity for reflection and reminiscence. He commended the union’s 75-year journey as a remarkable achievement and encouraged students to strive for excellence and work hard to ensure the union’s continued growth.

Humtsoe has also introduced a Civil Services Coaching Sponsorship Programme for bonafide citizens of the 38-Wokha Assembly Constituency. He stated that the programme aims to support 25 aspirants from economically weaker sections (EWS) by sponsoring a seven-month comprehensive coaching programme for the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) and Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) examinations. He stated that this  initiative seeks to promote meritocracy and provide greater educational opportunities to aspiring candidates from financially disadvantaged backgrounds in the Wokha constituency.

Wokha village chairman Vandan Erui, speaking at the event, stated that good deeds always come back in a good way and wished all who contributed at the jubilee souvenir good luck and success in life.

Convenor of the History and Magazine Committee, Y. Likao Humtsoe, spoke on the importance of preserving one’s history and identity. He highlighted the tremendous efforts put into creating the souvenir and extended his gratitude to everyone who supported its publication. He stated that the souvenir was released after the jubilee to include all the activities of the celebration, ensuring it captured the full essence of the event.

The event was chaired by Nzanthung Kikon, General Secretary of WVSU, with an invocation by Phyodemo Tungoe, Youth Director of the Wokha Village Baptist Church (WVBC). Chibenthung P. Kikon, Convenor of the Planning Committee, delivered the welcome address,

Following this, Rev. O. Thungben Kikon, Pastor of WVBC, led a dedicatory prayer. The official release of the souvenir was released by the Special Guest, Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Chijamo E. Tungoe, President of WVSU, and a benediction by Eyingbeni Murry Eloe Esopvui Nzanchi of WVBC.
