The Chakhroma Students Union (CSU) inaugurated its two-day 40th General Conference on March 15 at Tsiepama, under the theme “Transforming Challenges into Opportunities.”The event featured Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister of Women’s Resource and Horticulture, as the special guest. In her address, she expressed her joy at being among so many young minds and praised the relevance of the conference theme. She acknowledged the visionary efforts of the forefathers who established the union, noting their lasting impact on society.
Kruse emphasized the importance of such gatherings for students and youth to learn and grow together. She commended the union leaders for their dedication to societal work and highlighted the need to preserve cultural heritage. Urging the audience to speak their native language at home, she reminded them to stay connected to their roots while navigating modern life as Christians. She encouraged the youth to think critically, act wisely, and strive for unity, harmony, and peace.
Stressing that students and youth are the future of the state, Kruse advised them to envision the kind of future they want to build. She called for resilience in facing challenges and emphasized the value of understanding daily responsibilities, which she said would lead to a disciplined and fulfilling life. She also encouraged exploring entrepreneurship as a viable career path, citing the success of the Orange Festival in Rüsoma, where a family earns over Rs. 10,00,000 annually, as an inspiring example.

Kruse shared India’s plan to transform Nagaland into a “Kiwi State”and assured the audience of her department’s support for those interested in farming ventures. In her concluding remarks, she urged the youth to assist their parents, live with honesty, fear the Lord, and strive for a good life.
Earlier in the program, Kruse unveiled the conference monolith, followed by a Prayer for Dedication offered by Senior Pastor Pulhou Kuotsu of Tsiepama Baptist Church. The inaugural session was chaired by Visako Rino, with Seyiezhalie Khro delivering the invocation. Rokosielie Geisuo gave the welcome address, and CSU President Kezhawelie Richa delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the importance of preserving “Tenyidie,” excelling in competitive exams, and prioritizing entrepreneurship.
Seyievizo, Chairman of the Tsiepama Village Council, extended greetings to the gathering, and the Angami Students Union also conveyed their best wishes. This year’s conference is hosted by the Tsiepama Students’ Union.
