Naga hip-hop sensation Moko Koza and stand-up comedian Hopong Naga captivated the audience during the Euphonic Fest 2025 organized by Yemhi Memorial College at IMC Hall, Supply Colony, Dimapur on Friday. Held under the theme “Music: The Soundtrack of Life,” the event drew enthusiastic participation and was graced by Vice President of the BJP and Consultant to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, Basu Damani as the special guest.
In his address, Damani reflected on the deep cultural significance of music in Naga society. He recalled how, during the 1970s and 80s, music resonated from every Naga household, whether through traditional instruments or record players, underscoring the vital role it played in daily life regardless of social or economic status.
“Music has always been an inseparable part of our identity,” Damani said. He added that from English pop to Korean music, young Nagas continue to embrace a rich and diverse musical landscape. “Music transcends class, caste, and borders,” he emphasized.
Damani also used the platform to raise awareness about the “One Nation, One Election” proposal, advocating for a unified electoral system akin to that of the United States. He urged the youth to reflect on the high costs and resource strain caused by staggered elections across the country. “As the future of the nation, your voice matters. We need to rethink our electoral process and push for reform,” he said.
