The Angami Women Organisation (AWO) and  Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam (KMH) has expressed appreciation to the Nagaland government for suspending IAS officer Reny Wilfred from his official post, following accusations of sexual assault.

In a press release issued on May 23, the AWO commended the government for its prompt response in addressing the gravity of the allegations involved. “The suspension demonstrates the government’s commitment to accountability and ethical governance. The action taken is also a reminder that no individual is above the law and those in public services are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity and conduct,” stated the organisation.

Reaffirming its commitment towards the safety of women and children, the AWO urged the judiciary to ensure that that legal process is free, fair and transparent without prejudice or delay.

“Justice must be served and any wrongdoing must be addressed with appropriate disciplinary and legal measures to uphold public trust and the rule of law,” appealed the organisation.

In a note of appreciation, the Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam (KMH) welcomed the present action and expressed gratitude to state government. It also extended appreciation to the Nagaland State Women Commisssion and the Naga Mothers’ Association for standing and fighting for the oppressed and silenced women advocating justice and fair play in society.

“The offence of exploiting the dignity of women and children can be dated back to his days as

Deputy Commissioner Noklak in 2021 where he committed the crime against two minor girls. Action against the erring officer should have been taken long back,” mentioned the KMH.

It appealed the judiciary for timely delivery of justice to all the victims in the fairest manner and set an upright example for all to come.

“The KMH stands for the welfare of the women anywhere anytime and shall never bow down to the intimidation of any rank or caste,” added the KMH.
