The 5 Tribes committee on the review of reservation policy has announced its first phase of agitation which will begin on May 29.
In a press release issued on May 26 by Engineer Tesinlo Semy, Convenor and GK Zhimomi, Member Secretary, the Committee informed that the state government has failed to respond to its memorandum of September 20, 2024 and the 30 days ultimatum of April 26, 2025 which ended on May 26.
“Therefore, as resolved in the Joint Meeting of 5 Tribes apex bodies along with their youth and student organizations at CPO Hall, Chümoukedima on 24th May 2025, the first phase of agitation will be held on Thursday, the 29th May 2025 in all District headquarters inhabited by five tribes,” stated the Committee.

The first phase agitation will conduct a protest march to the DC office in the respective districts and the submission of an ultimatum reminder to the Government of Nagaland through the Deputy Commissioner.
“All the public especially youths and students from the five tribes are requested to participate in this movement against 48 Years of indefinite Reservation Policy in which various review committees has never addressed the concerns of non backward tribes,” informed the Committee.
Comprising of the Ao, Sema, Lotha, Angami and Rengma tribes of Nagaland, the Committee was formed in August 2023 demanding the review and to scrap the job reservation policy in the government sector.
