In a concerted effort to expedite the restoration of the crucial NH-2 corridor, an on-site inspection was carried out on the landslide-affected stretch between Kohima and Mao Gate, along with the alternate Other District Road (ODR) route from Zero Point, Kezoma Urban Station to Kidima village on June 13.
According to an update, the inspection was conducted by Er. Kropol Vitsu, Advisor for Prisons, Printing and Stationery, Government of Nagaland along with Executive Engineer and his team, South-Division (R&B) and other supporting team members.
The National Highway-2 serves as a vital link between Nagaland and Manipur, and the recent landslide has significantly disrupted connectivity and caused logistical challenges. The inspection aimed to assess the progress of ongoing restoration efforts and ensure effective coordination among all stakeholders involved.

The visiting team expressed appreciation for the relentless efforts being made on the ground by the Engineers to bring the deplorable road condition under control and restore this route for public movement and supply transport.
Speaking during the inspection, Er. Kropol Vitsu said, “It is commendable to see the commitment and hard work of the engineers and workers at the site. I urge all stakeholders to maintain the pace of work and continue their dedicated efforts. Restoring this route is not just about infrastructure; it is about reconnecting lives and livelihoods. Let us all work together to bring back normalcy as swiftly as possible.”
Meanwhile, the administration has reaffirmed its commitment to monitor the situation closely and extend all necessary support to complete the restoration in the shortest possible time.
