The Kohima Aor Telongjem celebrated the pre-harvest festival, Tsungremong, at the Ampitheater Kisama on August 1, 2025. Dr. S.C Jamir, Padma Bushan, former governor and former chief minister of Nagaland, who was the Chief Guest of the event, encouraged the Ao community to be united as they have gathered in unity for the meaningful festival.
Dr. Jamir stated that Nagaland is a place chosen by the Almighty but regretted that it was in a shamble and emphasized on the solution to the Naga political issue. He said that division, jealousy, corruption was growing while unity is underrated and challenged the Aos not to sit in silence but find a solution.
Metsubo Jamir, Minister for RD & SIRD, Government of Nagaland, delivered a speech on the meaning of Tsungremong where he recalled how the forefathers began to celebrate Tsungremong.
He mentioned that many Aos have left their lands and come to settle in Kohima and there are many who have settled here for generations. Jamir, however, emphasized on being rooted and to one’s own culture.
President Ao Senden, Marsanen Imsong also exhorted the gathering and Dobashi Mokokchung, Lanutemshi Longkumer briefed about the significance of the Tsungremmong celebration and how it all originated.
The welcome address was presented by President, Kohima AorTelongjem, T. Chubayanger, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Convenor, Kohima Aor Telongjem, Lepzung Pongen.
The celebration was marked with the presentation of folk dance, folk songs, traditional games performed by different unions under KAT and also witnessed a Tug of War between Ao Legislators & Senior Officers vs KAT Sanen Luden and a play performed by Dreams Unlimited.
