The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on August 29 installed the new office bearers of the 27th Mokokchung Town Assembly Constituency (A/C) from its five units—Kumlong, Mongsenbai, Kichutip, Salangtem and Aongza—for the 2024–2027 term at the Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium, Mokokchung.
Repameren, President of the NDPP Mokokchung Region, officiated the ceremony in which 397 party members were administered the oath and pledge.
Delivering the keynote, Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Metsubo Jamir urged the newly inducted team to anchor themselves in the party’s values and in service to the public. Calling the 397-member strength “a big force,” he reminded that collective discipline would determine the party’s growth and cautioned against actions that could destabilize the organisation.
He also acknowledged past leaders and workers, saying their contributions must continue to guide the party’s work, and underscored that all ten constituencies in Mokokchung should progress together.
With elections on the horizon, Jamir pressed for unity across the seven Assembly Constituencies where the NDPP is in power, asserting that the present team will lead the charge for the party. He encouraged self-reflection among workers so that “the true meaning of politics” is realised through service.
Citing recent outreach, Jamir highlighted the medical camp organised by the 27th Mokokchung Town A/C Youth Organization across the constituency, calling it an eye-opener that helped residents who cannot afford treatment outside. He said assistance must be extended “with love and not for votes,” and urged office bearers to work for the party’s positive cause and be willing to make sacrifices for its growth.
