The Chessore Town Public Forum (CTPF) and Chessore Town Students Union (CTSU) conducted a surprise inspection in the town area shops and seized expired consumer goods on September 8. The seized goods were disposed of by burning in order to ensure public safety, in the presence of DBs and police personnel, a DIPR report said.

CTPF president Chuba informed all local shopkeepers to be aware of selling of all illegal substances and expiry goods, and also appealed to the public to be vigilant and upright while buying any goods.

The public forum and CTSU warned that anyone selling banned items such as drugs, alcohols and tobacco products shall face stern action according to the appropriate sections of law and customary laws.
