Wrestler Zasituo Tsukru who was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Kohima in 2018 has been convicted and sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment with fined.
A press release Issued on November 4 by the Addl.Public Prosecutor Kohima Abraham informed that the Court of Mezivolu T. Therieh NJS, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kohima, (vide Order dated 03/11/24) has convicted accused Zasituo Tsukru under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code for assaulting a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty.
The Investigation was conducted by SI Levinuo Nyuwi, of woman ps, Kohima who collected the necessary evidence and filed the charge sheet in Court. During the trial, ten prosecution witnesses were examined, and the State, represented by L.Sashimongla, Spl. Public Prosecutor successfully established the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt.

“After considering the oral and documentary evidence, the Court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for period of one year and a fine of Rs 10000 U/S 354 IPC. In Default to undergo 3 (Three) months Simple Imprisonment,” informed the press release.
Additional Public Prosecutor, Kohima Abraham further stated that the conviction is a result of coordinated efforts between the police, prosecution, and witnesses, and reaffirmed the prosecution’s commitment to ensuring justice for women and upholding their dignity and safety in society.
The Prosecutor also appreciated the courage of the victim in standing firm during the trial process and thanked the investigating agency for their effective work.
