Nagaland Congress collects over 2 lakh signatures in nationwide campaign against BJP

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has joined the nationwide signature campaign launched by the Indian National Congress (INC) to “expose the BJP’s electoral manipulation,” under the slogan “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chod.”

According to the NPCC, a total of 2,08,057 signatures were collected from 12 districts across Nagaland, surpassing the State’s initial target of 1.5 lakh signatures.

Addressing party officials at Congress Bhavan, Kohima, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, S Supongmeren Jamir congratulated the party workers for successfully conducting the campaign. He said the aim was to reach out to grassroots people and promote clean elections. He said the party has taken this campaign with seriousness, as directed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

He said the party officials from the district have all done their best and people have come forward to give their assent. With this campaign, the MP underscored that it would be the beginning of their camp for 2028 elections and thus Congress would stand for clean elections.

“The Congress party is committed to fighting for clean elections and bringing issues of mis-governance to the public domain. We aim to hold the government accountable for policies and programs meant for the people, ensuring they reach the intended beneficiaries. The party will focus on highlighting gaps in implementation and informing the public about their rights, without targeting individuals,” Supongmeren noted.

Khriedi Theunuo, Working President, NPCC informed that State PCC was directed to collect signatures of 1.5 lakh individuals. He added that the party had directed the District Congress Committees to collect the signatures for the campaign.

Theunuo said that the party had collected more than the targeted figure. He also added that the signatures would be submitted to AICC office at New Delhi where AICC would come out with a programme to further submit the signatures to the President of India. He further said that the program would be made known to the party.

Theunuo highlighted that a total 2,08,057 (Two Lakhs eight thousand fifty seven) signatures have been collected from 12 districts of Nagaland. Hard copies of the campaign have been collected through respective DCC Presidents and it will be submitted to the esteemed office of the General Secretary (Organisation) AICC.
