The Wokha District Sepaktakraw Association (WDSA-Sepak) launched the third edition of the Wokha District Inter-School Sepaktakraw Tournament at the Public Ground, Wokha on November 11. The event was graced by Rhanbemo Odyuo, president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wokha unit, as the special guest.

In his address, Odyuo commended WDSA-Sepak for its continued initiative in promoting the sport within the district. Applauding the association’s success in producing both state and national-level players within a short span, he said such efforts contribute significantly to youth development and community progress.

Encouraging the students to participate with discipline and passion, Odyuo urged them to dream of representing Nagaland and India at higher levels. He further appealed to parents to nurture their children’s sporting interests, describing sports as a medium that unites communities and fosters self-reliance.

He also informed that the BJP Wokha unit will organise the Sansad Khel Mahotsav on November 15 at the same venue and invited students to take part in the one-day event.

The inaugural programme was chaired by Achanbeni Kikon, with Sr. Maria of St. Peter’s School, Longsa, pronouncing the invocation. A special number was presented by Mhabeni Kikon of Mt. Sinai School, Wokha.

Administering the players’ oath, WDSA-Sepak vice president T. Zuchanthung Ezung set the tone for the tournament, which was officially declared open by the special guest.
