The 62nd Annual General Conference of Chakpa Senso Telongjem Mokokchung Town (CSTM), held on Saturday at Penli Ward Community Hall, placed strong emphasis on strengthening community relationships and bridging generational responsibilities within the Chakpa community.

Rather than centering solely on organisational milestones, speakers used the platform to reflect on gaps that often emerge within communities highlighting unity, knowledge-sharing, and responsible leadership as areas that require renewed attention.

Independent research scholar Dr. Moakumka Longkumer, speaking on the theme “Telongjem Nung Terenlok,” underscored that growth whether personal or collective depends on the ability to remain connected. She noted that internal divisions can have consequences at a larger scale, drawing parallels to ongoing tensions in neighbouring Manipur to illustrate how fractured relationships can escalate when unity weakens.

In a separate address, N. Wati Jamir drew attention to a different dimension of progress: the need to match linguistic talent with informed understanding. He remarked that while individuals from the village are known for their strong command of language, genuine advancement requires awareness of broader developments and appreciation of others’ work.

Bringing the discussion to intergenerational responsibilities, I. Nukshi Aola urged elders to demonstrate leadership that younger members can model. He further encouraged collective preparation for the Village Church’s upcoming Quasquicentennial celebration in 2026, noting that shared efforts contribute to stronger community foundations.

The programme opened with a welcome address from CSTM President T. Ngakoba and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vice President Lanuakum Jamir.
