Dr. T. Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship: MP registers win, Maharashtra and Mizoram battles draw

Madhya Pradesh delivered a commanding performance in Match No. 3 of the Dr. Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025–26 (Tier 2), registering an emphatic 5–0 win over Himachal Pradesh at Chümoukedima on November 23.

Right from kick-off, Madhya Pradesh dictated the tempo of the game, maintaining 62 percent possession and showcasing sharp attacking play. Their dominance translated into 14 shots on target and 10 off target, reflecting their relentless pressure on the opposition defense.

The goal fest began early, with Trusha Parmar (Jersey No. 3) opening the scoring in the 6th minute, capitalising on a defensive lapse. The lead was doubled soon after when Nitya Phulre (Jersey No. 7) found the net in the 15th minute with a composed finish.

Himachal Pradesh struggled to contain the wave of attacks and recorded just one shot on target, spending much of the match in their own half. Madhya Pradesh continued to push forward, and their efforts paid off again deep into first-half stoppage time when Komal Saket (Jersey No. 9) scored in the 45+1’ minute, giving her team a comfortable 3–0 advantage at the break.
The second half saw the pressure persist, with Bhariga Thevar (Jersey No. 6) adding the fourth goal in the 77th minute after a well-executed build-up play. The final blow came in stoppage time when Akshra Kanojiya (Jersey No. 5) sealed the match emphatically with a goal in the 90+6’ minute.
Despite their effort and four committed fouls, Himachal Pradesh were unable to turn the tide. With only 38% possession, no goals, and limited attacking opportunities, they found themselves overwhelmed by a disciplined and energetic Madhya Pradesh side.
With a convincing 5–0 victory and five different goal scorers, Madhya Pradesh have made a strong statement as contenders in this year’s championship.

Maharashtra and Mizoram share the spoils in thrilling 3–3 draw

Match No. 4 of the Dr. Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025–26 (Tier 2) produced one of the most exciting contests of the tournament so far, as Maharashtra and Mizoram battled to an intense 3–3 draw.

Both teams mirrored each other in determination and possession, each holding 50 percent of the ball. Maharashtra registered nine shots on target and eight off target, while Mizoram responded with seven on target and one off target, highlighting the end-to-end nature of the encounter.

Maharashtra struck early when Aanshi (Jersey No. 14) found the back of the net in the 6th minute, giving her side an ideal start. Their advantage grew in the 30th minute through a composed finish by Aarna (Jersey No. 11), putting Maharashtra firmly in control.

However, Mizoram refused to be subdued. They pulled one back deep into first-half stoppage time as Nunpuii (Jersey No. 7) scored in the 45+4’ minute, shifting momentum heading into the interval.

The second half saw Mizoram attack with renewed energy. Their persistence paid off in the 72nd minute when Mawipuii (Jersey No. 11) levelled the score. Maharashtra continued to press and eventually reclaimed the lead In dramatic fashion when Aanshi netted her second of the match in the 90+4’ minute, seemingly sealing the result.

But the drama wasn’t over. Mizoram responded almost instantly, with Loisy (Jersey No. 18) scoring in the 90+6’ minute to complete a sensational final-minute equaliser.

Both sides displayed impressive competitiveness, with Maharashtra committing eight fouls and Mizoram nine. Each team also received one yellow card. Maharashtra won more corners (6–2), while Mizoram were caught offside more frequently (9–1), a reflection of their aggressive forward pushes.

In the end, the six-goal thriller showcased the spirit and skill of both teams, who walk away with a point apiece after a spectacular display of junior football.
