Reaffirming its position on the Naga political movement, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has dismissed doubts over its legitimacy and warned against what it termed “false political teachers sowing dissension among the Nagas.”
The Tatar Hoho, in a statement, reiterated that the NSCN remains the “only authentic political organization” recognized by the Government of India for negotiations at the Prime Ministerial level.
Referring to what it described as persistent attempts to weaken the Naga struggle, the NSCN (IM) said it has become necessary to restate the organization’s stand, especially at a time when divisive voices are emerging.
“As enemies and false political teachers of the Nagas keep sowing bitter seeds of dissension… NSCN has to reiterate its unambiguous stand,” it noted.
The statement maintained that the Naga National Council (NNC) “has fallen from grace”, claiming that the mandate to carry forward the Naga political resistance subsequently shifted to the NSCN through the Naga National Assembly.
Highlighting its historical and political legitimacy, the group asserted, “Today, NSCN is recognized by the Government of India as the only authentic political organization of the Naga people, officially engaging talks at the Prime Minister level.”
According to the statement, NSCN has survived decades of armed conflict across all Naga-inhabited regions, attributing its endurance to “God’s grace,” while emphasizing that it seeks not a military but an “honourable political solution.”
Recounting diplomatic engagements spanning five continents, the NSCN (IM) pointed out that its leaders have addressed the United Nations Human Rights forum six times, are members of the UNPO, and are signatories to the Geneva Call Deed of Commitment.
The statement underscored that the 2015 Framework Agreement stands as a product of 50 years of struggle, sacrifice and negotiation. “This is the only agreement between the Government of India and the Naga people represented by the NSCN. It will take another fifty years or more if we are to go for another agreement other than the Framework Agreement or backtracked,” it asserted, adding, “ We must value the Framework Agreement at all costs.”
Questioning the idea of forming a common front or alternate platform, the NSCN reminded that under its structure operates the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN), the Naga Army, the Council of Nagalim Churches and other national bodies. “We are confronting the aggressors with an organized system of a parallel government,” it stated.
“Is it rational to talk about formation of a common platform apart from NSCN?” the statement asked, further claiming that the Naga Church, civil society and even global support remain aligned with its movement.
It, however, cautioned about emerging internal dissent, describing it as a “virus of rebellion, disloyalty and worshipping of the golden calf,” transmitted from the enemies’ laboratories, which has infected the minds of some workers in the set up and some of the public as well.
“It will eat deep into the vitality of the organization and the nation if it is not treated before it is too late,” the NSCN (IM) warned.

It stated that the Framework Agreement recognizes unique history of Nagas, sovereignty, identity, land, and the legitimate right of the Nagas to integrate all Naga territories, while proposing coexistence of “two entities sharing sovereign power.” India is now seen not as an adversary, it said, but as a “potential partner.”
However, the NSCN (IM) cautioned that if Government of India backtrack the historic Framework Agreement, which was signed at the highest level, it would amount to “murder of human rights and the murder of history”. “Who on earth will trust India then? Will the Naga people have any reason to trust India?,” the Tatar Hoho questioned.
The organization also criticized the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) over its recent remark “Beyond Framework Agreement,” calling it “an antithesis” to the signed pact and “an attempt to murder the Framework Agreement.”
“Therefore, the NSCN unequivocally condemns it,” the statement concluded.
