The Metonger Village Students’ Union (MVSU) Literary-cum-Sports Session commenced on January 3 at Metonger village public ground.
The event was graced by P Shiuto Tikhir, a retired Assam Rifles official, who encouraged the participants to uphold discipline, teamwork, and fair play in sports.
Delivering the welcome address, MVSU literary secretary Toju KN expressed hope that the event would foster unity, healthy competition, and a strong sporting culture among the youth.
The oath taking ceremony was administered by games & sports secretary T Tustu where players pledged to play in true sportsmanship and abide by the rules and decisions of the referees.

The sports events were officially declared open by the special guest. The competitions include Volleyball (Boys & Girls) and Badminton (Boys & Girls). The inaugural day of the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, officials, and members of the public.
The session will conclude on January 4 where career guidance and literary programmes will be held. Women Resource Development Officer (WRDO) K Sudanvito Justin and, Tikhir Students’ Union vice president Limti. Y Tikhir will be the resource persons for the career guidance. Napoleon K Tikhir will exhort the students at the literary session. There will be literary competitions including Spelling Bee, Extemporary Speech and Debate.
