Nagaland’s Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD), Kudecho Khamo, on Friday inaugurated the new Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Office Complex at Tamlu under Longleng district, in the presence of MLA of 49th Tamlu Assembly Constituency, B Bangtick Phom.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Khamo called for greater self-reliance through the effective utilisation of the state’s natural resources, human potential, skills and talents. He observed that Nagas are known for their bravery, rich culture and abundant natural resources, but stressed the need to tap these strengths to chart a path towards economic development and sustainability rather than depending on external assistance.
He urged administrative officers and government employees to discharge their duties with sincerity and ensure that welfare-oriented schemes and government initiatives reach people in the remotest parts of the state. He also called upon officials to serve the community with a sense of purpose and responsibility, contributing towards the upliftment and empowerment of the people in its truest sense.
Khamo acknowledged the public support and cooperation extended to the government, particularly by the people of Tamlu, despite the transition in administrative leadership, which contributed to the realisation of the ADC Office Complex. He specifically appreciated Tamlu and Kangching villages for providing land for the development and upgradation of Tamlu sub-division.
Describing the ADC Office Complex as an important infrastructure developed by CAWD, he emphasised that development required mutual cooperation between the government and the public. He said people must support government initiatives while the government, in turn, would remain committed to taking development activities.
Referring to the oppositionless government, Khamo said the present political arrangement was creating an enabling environment for peace, social harmony and development across the state.
Highlighting the role of the regional party under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who is also the president of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), Khamo said the party stood for the Naga cause and called for strengthening it so that it could continue to represent the voice and aspirations of the people.
He also commended fellow legislator Bangtick Phom for his commitment towards the upliftment of his community and appreciated the contractor for completing the long-awaited office complex.
Khamo also acknowledged landowners across the state for contributing land towards developmental projects. However, he expressed concern over incidents of encroachment on government land, stating that reclaiming land after voluntarily donating it for public purposes was morally wrong and traditionally considered a taboo.
On the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), Khamo said the Bill had been passed by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly under the leadership of Chief Minister Rio and subsequently received the assent of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. He said the arrangement would empower the region to take decisions concerning its own development.
He urged the people of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) area to remain united and set aside differences to realise the vision of the FNTA.
Furthermore Khamo stressed the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, trust and understanding in resolving differences and advancing development.
Speaking at the programme, MLA B Bangtick Phom said more government buildings were being taken up in Tamlu sub-division, with the newly completed ADC Office Complex being among the most anticipated projects.
He acknowledged Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Advisor Kudecho Khamo for helping realise the aspirations of the people and appreciated the contractor for the timely execution of the project, which would facilitate public service delivery.
Phom informed that more projects were in the pipeline for the sub-division, including a Community Health Centre (CHC). He appealed to the public to extend cooperation and support to strengthen the leadership of Chief Minister Rio and the government in taking development initiatives forward.

The DC appreciated Khamo for personally undertaking tours and inspections across Eastern Nagaland to monitor development initiatives, particularly in Longleng district.
