Advisor, Village Guard and Information & Public Relations, S Keoshu Yimchunger unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute from five contingents on the 74th Republic Day at Noklak.

Yimchunger advocated for the upliftment of the under-privileged and the disadvantaged sections of the society in his address. He said that the nation cannot move forward until the Scheduled Caste, the Scheduled Tribes and weaker sections of the society are empowered.

The Advisor said that it must be ensured that the weak and the poor too find a place to enjoy the sunshine of the country’s growth and development.

Our efforts and our commitment, while pursuing the goal of high growth rates, should be to ensure that all people of our state benefit from it, he added.

Yimchunger also inaugurated exhibition stalls set up by the agri-allied departments – Horticulture department, Fisher & Aquatic resources department and Noklak District Handloom & Handicrafts Council.

A stall dedicated to registration of CMHIS was also set up at Public Ground, Noklak.

The five parade contingents that participated on Thursday were DEF/NAP, Village Guard Pathso, Village Guard Wansoi, Ex-Servicemen and Assam Rifle Pipe Band.

The parade commander was Assistant Commandant 3rd NAP Noklak Tianungba, Parade 2 i/c ABSI Penthong and Parade CHM Hav. K. Peshiu.

A game of Tug-of-War was organised between DEF Noklak vs District Administration, Noklak, where DEF won the match.

To mark the occasion, the institutional visits were done by Department of Food & Civil Supplies to Adora Children’s Home and Indian Red Cross Society to District Hospital, Noklak.

In the evening, a football exhibition match is scheduled between DPDB Noklak and Khiamniungan Sports Council.

The 74th Republic Day programme will end with Beating of Retreat by 3rd NAP Noklak.
