The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, has issued an advisory on December 4, 2024 addressing the growing issue of unauthorized banners, posters, hoardings, and digital advertisement boards installed on foot overbridges, highways, and strategic locations across Dimapur, Chumoukidema, and Niuland districts. These installations pose significant risks to public safety and traffic management.

As per the advisory, all unauthorized installations must be removed immediately. Individuals, organizations, and businesses intending to install advertisement materials must obtain prior approval from the Commissioner of Police and District Magistrate’s office, as mandated by the Home Department notification dated December 17, 2014. Only installations with official approval will be permitted.
The advisory also mandates prior approval for organizing events such as shows, concerts, and exhibitions. Violators will face strict legal action under relevant laws. The public has been urged to cooperate in maintaining safety and order.
